width=This course covers the comprehensive study of isotropic, anisotropic, and orthotropic materials, their properties, and applications in various fields. It provides a deep understanding of the difference between these materials and how their properties are influenced by direction. The course also explores the relationship between elastic constants such as modulus of elasticity, Poisson's ratio, and modulus of rigidity, and how these constants interrelate in isotropic materials. Additionally, the course delves into the concept of strain energy and its calculation in different dimensions. It further discusses the determination of stresses in thick cylinders and rotating discs, and the stress distribution in a duplex cylinder. The course concludes with the mechanics of rotating discs, focusing on the calculation of initial shrink fit allowance, contact pressure, and rotational speed.
