This course covers the fundamental concepts of Dynamic Aeroelasticity and Aerodynamics. It starts with the explanation of static and dynamic aeroelastic problems using a simple 2D model of a wing section. The course then delves into the application of Lagrange's equation to derive the equation of motion for an aerofoil executing a plunging and pitching motion. It also discusses the flutter problem and its solution using Eigen values. The course further explores unsteady aerodynamics, explaining the seven quantities and equations needed in aerodynamics, including the continuity equation, momentum equations, energy equation, and the equation of state. It introduces the concept of potential flow, irrotational flow, and terms such as circulation and the Kelvin theorem. The course concludes with a detailed explanation of Small Disturbance Potential Theory, its assumptions, and its mathematical equations.
