This course covers the comprehensive study of aeroelasticity and structural analysis. It begins with the fundamentals of aeroelasticity, exploring its applications and the problems encountered in this field. For instance, the course explains how the Wright brothers' biplane design was successful due to its partial twist, which helped avoid aeroelastic problems. The course then delves into the analysis of structural models, focusing on the deformation of structures and influence coefficients. It further explains the concept of strain energy, which is the energy stored in a structure due to deformation. The course also covers the concept of deformation and energy formulation in structural analysis, including the principle of virtual work and the application of these concepts in solving problems related to wing deformation and beam bending. Lastly, the course discusses the concepts of Hamilton's Principle and Lagrange's Equation in the context of aeroelastic problems, and their application in formulating equations for a beam-like structure under bending deformation and torsion problem.
