This learning track covers a comprehensive understanding of electric vehicles, their design, performance, and the technology involved. It starts with the fundamentals of electric vehicles, discussing their performance, energy sources, and auxiliary systems. It then delves into the Indian perspective of electric vehicles, discussing their benefits, challenges, and economic aspects. The track further explores the dynamics of electric and conventional vehicles, focusing on power, energy, and torque requirements. It also covers the concept of a standard drive cycle, a tool used to compare the energy efficiency of different vehicles. The track then transitions into the design and functioning of electric vehicle subsystems, with a particular focus on the drive train. It also covers the comprehensive understanding of electric vehicle battery technology, focusing on Lithium-Ion battery. The track concludes with a detailed analysis of battery costs for electric vehicles and the fundamentals of battery pack design. It also covers the comprehensive aspects of designing battery packs, with a particular focus on the electrical design. It further delves into the mechanical design of battery packs, thermal design and management in battery packs, and the comprehensive understanding of Battery Management Systems (BMS). The track also covers the intricate details of electric vehicle components, focusing on lithium-ion cells, battery packs, cell testing, motors, controllers, and the principles of magnetism and heat flow. It concludes with the comprehensive understanding of motor design and control, thermal design in motors, and the intricate aspects of motor design, selection, performance, and adaptation. The track also covers a wide range of topics related to electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, the comprehensive understanding of Battery Management Systems (BMS), the multifaceted aspects of energy storage, particularly in the context of renewable energy, and the comprehensive aspects of e-mobility and vehicle safety.
