This course covers the comprehensive study of Electric Vehicles (EVs), their history, types, benefits, and challenges. It provides an in-depth understanding of the technologies used in EVs, such as Motor Drive Technologies, Energy Source Technologies, and Battery Charging Technologies. For instance, the course explains how Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines (PMSM) are preferred for EV applications due to their high torque density, power density, and efficiency. It also discusses the potential of harnessing solar energy, waste heat energy, and vibration energy in EVs. The course further explores the concept of Vehicle to Grid (V2G) technologies, explaining how V2G technology allows for the interchange of energy between the battery and the grid, benefiting both EV owners and the power system.
