Electrical Machine Windings Design

This course covers the comprehensive understanding of electrical machine windings design. It starts with the exploration of Magnetomotive Force (MMF) distribution of AC windings in electrical machines, explaining the concepts of concentrated winding, short pitch windings, and distributed windings. The course then delves into the fundamentals of electrical machine windings, including the meaning of coil, coil pitch, pole pitch, and various types of windings. It further explains the principles of stator winding design, focusing on single layer full pitch winding and full pitch double layer winding. The course also covers the design of stator winding with a focus on fractional slot windings and stator winding design for variable pole machines. Lastly, it discusses the concept of pole phase modulation in induction motor drives, focusing on a 9-phase machine.
