Will BEAM188 yield due to shear stress?

The beam element is based on Timoshenko beam theory. Cross-sections remain plane and undistorted after deformation, meaning that transverse shear strain is constant through the cross-section. The shear distribution, however, is not constant, so some scaling is applied to make the distribution parabolic. In this case, it only makes sense that the constitutive relation for transverse shear is linear elastic. Therefore, the beam will not yield due to shear.
