We have an exciting announcement about badges coming in May 2025. Until then, we will temporarily stop issuing new badges for course completions and certifications. However, all completions will be recorded and fulfilled after May 2025.

In ICEM tetra what does the Laplace smoother do?

The Laplace smoother is a mesh smoother that only operates on surface meshes. It generally gives a more uniformly spaced mesh and, as such, can help to eliminate some of the Octree-ness of the mesh. However, it can also lead to lower quality prisms so a subsequent run of the normal mesher may be necessary. The general advice for running the Laplace smoother is: Set the ‘Up to quality’ to 1.0 when running Laplace. After running a few iterations of Laplace, re-run a few iterations of the normal smoother using a lower value for the ‘Up to quality’ such as 0.2.
