Introduction: In the workbench environment, when you are dealing with a case containing periodic zones you need to retain these mesh settings for further runs in a parametric study. If the periodic interfaces are defined and not saved, new wall zones would be created when the parameter is changed or the calculation is started again.
Solution: Define mesh interfaces using the required periodic surfaces. Make sure you specify the correct axis direction about which the surfaces are periodic, in the cell zone conditions. This is very important for the automatic detection of the periodic angle in the mesh interfaces panel. Once you define these mesh interfaces you should initialize the case and save the project. This will remember the mesh interfaces and additional wall surfaces would not be created when the case is run again or a change in the geometry is made and updated across Geometry–>Mesher–>Setup.
