      You can cut the geometry with any plane (as per your requirement) and then copy(CTRL+C) and paste(CTRL+V) the surfaces. Then, Suppress the solids for Physics and leave surfaces active, so as the active surface parts are transferred to Mechanical. For axisymmetric model, you may have to move the geometry before slicing with the plane, so that the geometry is on the XY plane. Before you launch Mechanical, please make sure to set the analysis type to 2D in the Project Schematic page.
