How can I have the mesh skip over small details?

Question: I have a plate structure with many tiny holes. The holes are not important in the analysis. Is there a way to mesh over them instead of going back and removing in the CAD model or ANSYS DesignModeler or ANSYS SpaceClaim? Answer: If the size of the holes is very small compared to other geometric features of interest, then, in the Details view of the “Mesh” branch in Workbench Mechanical or Workbench Meshing, you can set “Automatic Mesh Based Defeaturing” to “On”. Specify a “Defeature Size” value that is larger than your hole size. Any edge lengths less than this value will be ignored by the mesher. Please note that, if you have important geometric features smaller than this Defeature Size, they will also be ignored, so please use this with caution. Otherwise, holes will need to be removed or filled in. For example, ANSYS SpaceClaim does have extensive select capabilities to select several similar entities and operate on them quickly, including using the FILL tool.
