The geometry decomposition is very similar to the block decomposition in ICEM CFD. But since it is done at the geometry level with a script, the users that do not know how to use ICEM CFD can create a multiblock mesh in ANSYS meshing. In SCDM, a script is published as a group in the group panel. The script creates a sphere, a cube inside the sphere and slices the sphere in 7 blocks and create a shared topology. The resulting geometry will be easier to mesh in ANSYS Meshing with Multizone method. The resulting mesh is a O grid or O-H grid. The named selection has been created with worksheet in this example but it could be created with other options too. 3 steps are required on meshing side: 1- Multizone method is applied on all the solids. 2- It is important to use uniform edge sizing in the central cube. Do not forget to use “hard” option instead of “soft” because you don’t want that volume to be influenced by any size functions. 3- For the radial direction, one single edge can be selected and you need to specify a bias based Keywords: SCDM, scripting, Hexahedral mesh, ANSYS Meshing, blocking
