Are buoyancy effects taken into account if the energy equation is disabled?

      No. The buoyancy option for turbulence is only valid whenever there is a spatial temperature gradients in the flow and so requires solving of the energy equation. The default buoyancy option in Fluent is not appropriate to isothermal density gradients (multiphase or multicomponent flows)
