One can generate reinforcement for concrete through either the command approach or geometry approach. 1. For command approach, one can insert command snippets into Mechanical and generate Reinf264 elements. This approach is mesh independent. 2. For geometry approach, one needs to align the beams with the edges of the solid, and then put them into the same component and set the share topology to “merge”. In this way the reinforcement and the concrete will share the same nodes and deform together. 3. There are other approaches, for example, one can use “reinfocement” contact in explicit dynamics. One can use smeared reinforced concrete material model MAT_72 in Workbench LS-DYNA. Please find detailed information in the attached pdf. 4. In the pdf file. Procedure to apply prestress to the reinforcement is also mentioned. Analyses using the command approach and geometry approach are attached.
