This 2-part series of ANSYS How To videos demonstrates how to set up an ANSYS Polyflow blow molding simulation using a surface mesh, or shell mesh. The shell mesh initially represents a cylindrical parison, which is then pinched off by a moving mold and inflated so that it takes the shape of a bottle. Here in Part 1, the project file will be created and the moving mold defined. ANSYS Polyflow provides advanced fluid dynamics technology for companies in the polymer, glass, metals and cement processing industries. R&D teams use this technology extensively to design and optimize processes such as extrusion, thermoforming, blow molding, glass forming, fiber drawing and concrete shaping. For more than 25 years, design engineers have used Polyflow to minimize physical prototyping when manufacturing extrusion dies or to reduce thickness variation to improve the quality of thermoformed or blown products.
