SubscriberIm a final year student in Engineering of Mechanical, currently facing problems to develop a simple beam design of wingbox consisting of its features such like ribs, panels and spars but im stuck at simple hollow wing box due to insufficient experience and skills in using Ansys Workbench specifically Design Modeler as its a requirement need to be done by my lecturer for my Final Year Project. The due date is just around 2 weeks more, please help me.?

SubscriberPlease reply with the wing specifications. What is the NACA profile?

SubscriberJust a simple project based on previous studies where a wing box design for medium sized UAV made of Carbon Composite materials, unfortunately for me still unable to configure the geometry and model. Not to mention the optimization of Carbon Composite usage of material. Current model specs requested by lecturer :
Length = 4m, Width = 0.6m, Height = 0.12m, Thick = 0.001m
Consists of 7 interval ribs of 0.5m distances, thick = 0,001m

SubscriberI expect the lecturer's model is a surface model, and that the composite layups would be defined in ACP/Pre. His (her?) model has some curvature to the top and bottom faces. Do you need to include that? The lecturer's model has a tapered tip, what are the dimensions on the taper?
It looks like you have created a solid model, and meshed it with tetrahedral elements. You can discard that when you start over in DesignModeler.

SubscriberThe composite layups should be done in Ansys Mechanical APDL is it? The previous study done magnificently, mine does not include yet. Focus on being able to construct the wing box.

SubscriberThe composite layups should be done in ACP (Pre) which you can see in the Component category in Workbench.
I suggest you watch a few YouTube videos of DesignModeler tutorials: https://www.google.com/search?q=youtube+designmodeler+tutorial&oq=youtube+designmodeler+tutorial
I made this video just for you.

SubscriberYes Sir, the demo in youtube youve made was the progress im able to made but the internal ribs and other parts are still unable. It would really help if you could demo the ribs part, please Sir. The picture attached below is ribs consist of circular holes, im in need of square hollow frames inside of the wingbox (ribs)

SubscriberPlease use the File Archive menu in Workbench to create a .wbpz file that you can attach to your reply.
I can open that and take a look.

SubscriberAttached is the attempt ive tried in making the wingbox with ribs

SubscriberYou have created 8 solids for Wingbox 1. This is not what I demonstrated in my video. I created surface bodies, which is what you need to create shell elements and create a composite layup in ACP (Pre).
Independent of the geometry being solids and not mid-surfaces, the specification was that the ribs were to be 1 mm thick. The solid ribs are 20 mm thick. The spars are also supposed to be 1 mm thick and you made them 10 mm thick. The specification was 1 mm. Did you make a mistake when you said thickness 0.001 m?
Here is a surface body version, called Wingbox 2.
