Windows 11 2024R1 CFXPre error

      I did a new install of 2024R1 on a LenovoThinkstation P520C. The launcher starts fine, Pre opens, and then when I

      go to open a local .cfx file, I get the following messages:

      ==========================================================================

      OPENSSL_Uplink(00007FF865701820,08): no OPENSSL_Applink
      Socket error: recv: connection reset

      Aborting due to unexpected error: socketError:
      RemoteEngineProtocol::receiveTransStat - Communications error:
      unexpected end of transmission from engine, expected status code.  The
      application has encountered an unexpected problem and will now
      terminate:

      Aborting due to unexpected error: socketError:
      RemoteEngineProtocol::receiveTransStat - Communications error:
      unexpected end of transmission from engine, expected status code.

      Please report this error, along with the circumstances in which it occurred.

      The following information may be useful to CFX support:

      Unexpected error: Aborting due to unexpected error:
      socketError: RemoteEngineProtocol::receiveTransStat - Communications
      error: unexpected end of transmission from engine, expected status
      code.

      ==========================================================================

      All communications to the Internet are working (e.g., browser, ThinLinc terminal connection on a VPN). The licencing is set up to port 1055 on my licence server.

      Please let me know how to overcome this.

      Hi Scott,

      The issue is due to a newer version of OpenSSL on the Windows machine which places conflicting libraries like libcrypto-1_1-x64.dll and libssl-1_1-x64.dll under C:\Windows\System32
      This common Windows path is always loaded on the PATH variable and conflicts with the ANSYS install of OpenSSL under the ANSYS install path.

      Solution is to rename the following dll files to .dll_backup under C:\Windows\System32:

      libcrypto-1_1-x64.dll

      libssl-1_1-x64.dll

      Thank you. That fixed my problem.

      That is so obscure. Is it in any release notes or installation instructions?
