I try to simulate the some electromagnetic field by using the PML as BC on 2D system, because the sample is infinite on x axe and seminfinite on y -axe (finite on the positive one and infinite on the negative one), which confused me , because I don't understand, if I have to use PML on all sides or I have to use another BC to absorb all incident light

PML is to truncate the object to be simulated;Â
For 2D, if x direction is infinite you should use periodic BCs (normal incidence) but Y axis uses PML. Please try.
