SubscriberHi,Â
As the title shown, what are the differences of functionalities between those three products?
Â
Thank you.

Ansys EmployeeHello Kin
All 3 products have the same functionality. The only difference is their licensing.
ANSYS SpaceClaim: Software uses legacy SpaceClaim licenses. All cad translators can be purchased ala carte while the translators are mostly bundled into SCDM and Discovery SpaceClaim. Default install location is C:\Program Files\SpaceClaim 19.0
SpaceClaim Direct Modeler: It is bundled with ANSYS enterprise licenses. The only change with R19.0 is that the faceted data toolkit is now bundled with SCDM. Default install location is C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\v190\scdm
Discovery SpaceClaim: New product as part of the Discovery essentials bundle and sold with the new subscription licensing. Very similar functionality to ANSYS SpaceClaim but it does not include Live Review which was based on SpaceClaim licensing. Default install location is C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\v190\scdm

SubscriberHi Naresh PatreÂ
Could you tell me, why is not Live Review included in Discovery SpaceClaim? Will be included in future?
Â
Thank you, Lukas

SubscriberHi Naresh PatreÂ
I've seen the "SCDM Supported Format R192" and have found there are import and export formats differences such as Creo Element/ Direct Modeling (Cocreate)(PKG), PDF, Catia, JT, PDF and even IGES between SCDM and SpaceClaim. Why do they have these differences?
Furthermore, is SCDM on the right-hand side in this SCDM Supported Format R192 PDF equal to SpaceClaim Direct Modeler bundle with ANSYS Enterprise or Discovery SpaceClaim even or ANSYS SpaceClaim? How do we tell which product it mean?
On the other hand, it doesn't include the STL prep function in Discovery Essentials (need to be added on) but included in Discovery Live, does it? So, does this mean we cannot open STL file with Discovery Essentials?
Â
Thank you.

Ansys EmployeeHello KinÂ
SCDM i.e. SpaceClaim Direct Modeler is not sold as a separate product whereas ANSYS SpaceClaim and Discovery SpaceClaim are sold as separate products and I think due to this packaging they have differences in the supported formats and their licensing. But let me check with the development team and get back to you.
SCDM mentioned on the right side of the PDF that you shared refers to SpaceClaim Direct Modeler bundled with ANSYS enterprise license.
You can import STL file with Discovery Essentials bundle without having STL prep functionality. But you will not be able to access tools under Facets tab (which requires STL prep license) for working with facets and preparing them for additive manufacturing.

Ansys EmployeeHello Kin
Though most of the functionalities in 3 SpaceClaim variants are common, there are slight differences as you pointed out. These differences are mainly due to the way they are packaged and their pricing. We are planning to publish a comprehensive chart of supported formats of all 3 variants of SpaceClaim.

Ansys EmployeeHello Lukas
Â
Live Review is not included with Discovery SpaceClaim or ANSYS SCDM. I will check with the development team about it and update you.

Ansys EmployeeHello Lukas Curently, there are no plans to include Live Review in Discovery SpaceClaim. This feature has already been suggested and voted by a few users. Check out this link .Â
