SubscriberGreetings,Â
I am looking for equations for wall lift and wall drag forces used in Fluent 2022 R2, under Solution > Report Definitions > Drag Report Definitions, or any documentation or sources pertaining to how the lift and drag forces are generated. I am particularly looking for these equations while using the Multiphase VOF Model Theory. I have looked through the Theory, User, Tutorial Guides, and the AnsysHelp searchbar.
I understand there is some documentation for the Eulerian Model Theory, but wanted to verify if those equations are similar, exact, or other equations all together.
Cheers

Ansys EmployeeHi,
Equations are describe for lift and drag in the fluent theory guide: 14.5.9. Lift Force (ansys.com)
Same has been used for calcualtion in the post processing.
Hope this helps you.

SubscriberInteresting. From the link provided, "multiphase flows in Ansys Fluent can include the effect of lift forces on the secondary phase particles, droplets, or bubbles."
So Fluent integrates the pressure and shear forces on the surface of the wall with the secondary phase particles to generate the lift and drag forces.
From the link provided, it only shows the lift equation based on reference [148] D. A. Drew and R. T. Lahey. In Particulate Two-Phase Flow. Butterworth-Heinemann. Boston, MA509–566. 1993.
Can you provide the drag equation link or reference as well?
Thank you.

Ansys EmployeeHi,
You can check fluent theory guide for drag calculation: 14.5.7. Interphase Exchange Coefficients (ansys.com)
Hope this helps you.
