Unite error

I did draw an arm for my generator design by 3d rectangle in Maxwell 3d. I am adding the arm with stator together by using unite.

When I am trying to validate my design, its saying an error showing that the two block intersect. I was wondering what I am doing wrong?

When blocks with different materials, or boundary conditions, or other properties intersect, HFSS/Maxwell geometry engine, which is not based on object priorities (which would limit flexibility in high complex projects) can not decide which material or property to apply to the intersecting area. The only case where it CAN decide is when a smaller object is completely submerged in larger exterior object, like the airbox.
So you have to use boolean operations for defining the objects and parts explicitly.

Hi @umozumder Use subtract command, select clone tool objects before operation on the popup window, and then use unite command.
If this did not solve your problem. Please share some screenshots of your design.
Mention which are the parts that are indicated as interesting as an error if you can identify.
Please use the image option and not the Attachment option while sharing the screenshots.

Hi Navya I trying to mount PM (brown) on the top of the surface of the rotor(green). Then Ansys is showing these errors. I can not unite them cause they are different materials. Is there anything else possible?

HI @umozumder May I know why do you want to unite them in the first place?
If the magnets you modeled are not sitting on the rotor curvature and interfering with the rotor - Just subtract the magnets from the rotor and check "clone tool objects before operation on the popup window"
If the magnets need to be placed in a cutout on the rotor - first create the cutout using the boolean operations as suggested byand then place the magnets.

      Hi Navya
Thanks a bunch. That worked. My simulation is running.
I have drawn a custom motor design in Maxwell 3D. Can I run them in generator mode and define the speed?
I have done it RMxprt preset design. But I am not finding any option in Analysis for the custom design.

Hi. I have also the same problem. But i imported CAD file from Solidworks. It shows that my parts are intersected. I have assembled the part files from solidworks and they donot intersect actually. Even when i tried to subtract parts in Maxwell 3D, it shows invalid and the parts cannot be substracted. How to solve this problem?

      Thanks
