Transient Thermal Analysis just shows a constant Temperature

      Hi All,

I have a simple 3D three-parts assembly that I'm doing a Transient thermal Analysis in Ansys Workbench 2021. I have a heat flow source of 20 W on Element 3 (Tiny element between elemens 1 and 2). The initial temperature of the elements is 50 degrees. When I run the analysis for 10 seconds, no temperature gradient results is shown on the Temperature results. Any thoughts what can be the reason? why the temperature not changing over time from 50 degrees up and then stabilize?

      Thanks

      Hey,

Can you try checking one temperature at a time (max or min or Average) and check if its still not showing the variation (sometimes the variation of temperature is just in decimals).

You seemed to have scoped the heat flow to a very small face, which might get convected very fast and attain the equilibrium very soon hence you are not seeing the variation so try reducing the time step to a small value manually instead of program controlled and do confirm whether you are using the right BCs.

Try addidng a temperature probe and probe it to a single element near the small body and see if that is giving any better results.

If none of this worked, can you share your mesh density near the small body, contact setup you have between the bodies.

      Thanks

      Thank you.

The problem was material properties defined. Incorrect density and specific heat constant pressure specified.

      Hey,

Its great that you found out the problem and fixed it by yourself. I'll close this topic for now as it will help other forum members to find solutions if they have a similar problem.

      All the best.
