Transient Structural FSI Interface Shows Volume Instead of Face

      Hi everyone,

I'm working on a 2-way FSI setup in ANSYS 2019 R3 involving a plate composed of 14 solid bodies, connected using Shared Topology in SpaceClaim. I need to define Fluid–Solid Interfaces on the top and bottom faces of the plate to couple with Fluent (transient, dynamic mesh).

Problem: In Transient Structural, when I define the FSI interface using a Named Selection of faces, ANSYS treats it as a volume. A question mark (?) appears, and the setup fails to update. Strangely, the same face selection works fine in Static Structural.

      What I’ve Tried:

      • Verified Shared Topology is active

      • Suppressed fluid bodies in the structural system

      • Ensured face-only Named Selections

      • Recreated the interface multiple times

      Question:

Why does Transient Structural interpret face selections as volumes in this case? How can I ensure proper face-level FSI scoping across multiple connected bodies?

      Any help would be appreciated.
