Transferring Lumerical License to another laptop

      I had installed a workshop lumerical license available as part of a EdX photonics course. Unfortunately, the laptop I had installed it on died suddenly, and I therefore need to transfer the license to another laptop. Would you be able to advise me on how to do that?

      Sorry you cannot transfer or move "free licenses" to another computer.

      An option would be to request a colleague to register with Lumerical and for the workshop and download the license using their user/email.

      Thank you for the reply, but this is quite disappointing to hear. I work in the biotech industry and I was taking this course and learning Lumerical in the hopes of being able to use it for my projects down the line. This is a genuine case of something I couldn't have foreseen or prevented and it is very disappointing that Ansys refuses to make an exception for such cases.

      The edX course instructor - Dr. Lukas Chrostowski - had said that Ansys is usually generous enough to allow a course enrollee to change computer for genuine reasons, as they have been doing this course for a long time, and a lot of students take up Lumerical as part of it. I can't finish my assignments for the course without this license unless I learn alternate photonics simulation software.

      I don't have a colleague to register and provide access to their email accounts (as Ansys requires) - I would request once again that you please allow me to transfer the license to another laptop.

      Sorry but support do not have access or control on the Ansys licensing issuance/generation. This is done by our system/servers upon registration and request for the workshop license.

      Let me check with sales on this and get back to you via email.

      @Aadhar Jain,

      Did you register/request for the workshop license using your university email/domain? I do not see any industry/company email domain that registered for the workshop.

      Yes, I did - it is the same email as my account - aj329@cornell.edu.

      Thank you for the confirmation. Try to request for the workshop license tomorrow using your university email/domain. Let us know if you run into any issues.
