How to do time averaging of velocity field?
brief explanation.
i done the simulation for mixing of air and swirled air which are passing through central and annular pipe and i am looking for velocity field in outer domain.
yes i am getting velocity field but since the flow is turbulent, i expect velocity field is composition of mean and fluctuating velocity component.
so i would like to get time averaged velocity so the field is smooth.
Â
should i consider the iterations once after the solution got converged? or is their any hint for my problem?
Â
thank you

Ansys EmployeeI assume you are using standard RANS turbulence model and the velocity you see is the time dependent mean velocity without any turbulence dependent fluctuations. -

SubscriberYes i am using Reynolds stress model and i am just piloting velocity contours in theÂ
CFD post once after solution gets converges.... i want data of time averaged velocity. should i run the simulation in transient mode to get time averaged velocity or how it is so? -

Ansys Employee To get transient averaged data you need to enable data sampling in Fluent or use a script in CFD-Post to do the transient average there if you forgot to do that in Fluent.

Subscriberthank you, i enabled the data sampling for time statistics.Â
what this ''user memory location'' and ''node memory location''.? are these options help to do time averaging?Â

Ansys EmployeeYes possible by UDF. Transient data sampling is built-in and you do not require user defined memory locations to do sampling. -
