Ansys EmployeeThis is a more theoretical question other than simulation, since you need to know the calculation method. From literature, you may simply use the average of the neff from two grating tooth, or simulate the band structure and extract the effective index, or from resonance to get the equivalent refractive index by matching the optical length difference (tough!). Please get more information from literature. FDTD gives result of E and H fields, as well as derived power quantities. All other results will need to be extracted from them, by post porcessing, with some math/physics manipulations.
