SubscriberYes, you really need shell elements. Open the geometry in SpaceClaim and on the Repair tab, click Extra Edges and then the green check. Next click on Split Edges and the green chenk. Click on the Prepare tab click the Midsurface button. Click on one face and then click again and it should find every face pair with that same thickness. After you click the green check, you will have midsurfaces and the solid bodies will be hidden and set to Suppress for Physics. Repeat if you have more than one thickness. If the sheet metal had a blend radius on every bend, the surfaces belonging to each part will be all connected. If not, you may need to use the the Extend button. Now you can update the model in Mechanical. The thickness values are automatically transfered. Mesh and you should have a good quality mesh.
