Hello, i have to compare results of Taylor test done in explicit dynamics (cylinder with velocity impact on plate) with results got with same experiment but done in static structural. I need to compare how stress (Pa) and deformation (m) curves change when doing the test with explicit vs static structural. Can you advise how to make same experiment in static structural? Tried to apply "displacement" to match the one got in explicit dynamics, but i get linear graph of stress/deformation, so results differ a lot. Maybe the problem is time steps?

Hi Goda,
Did you incorporate plasticity in your model for both analyses? In general, using explicit dynamics solver (either AUTODYN or LS-DYNA) is more appropriate for this type of simulation due to the short nature of the test and significant material nonlinearities that may arise during deformation. If you really need to employ an implicit solver, try using "Transient Structural" instead of Static Structural analysis system. Â
