SubscriberI have installed Ansys Discovery 2021R1 on a new laptop (previously installed ok on PC but incompatible graphics card meant I could not use it) this is installed with the subscription license option, when I try to run Ansys Discovery I get a failover feature error with no valid FLEXlm server specified, I have completely removed the software and reinstalled but get the same error message. Any ideas on how to resolve this? I have looked on the forum but can not see this particular issue. Many Thanks, Rob

Ansys EmployeeHello Robert Wright
Looking at the error message, it appears that the licensing model might have been set to floating. Can you launch Discovery Licensing Mode Manager (from Windows Start menu) in administrative mode and set the license of as Subscription. Once done, try launching Discovery again and let me know if you still face any licensing issue.

Type %temp% in Windows Search and locate .ansys folder. Zip this folder and send it to ansys-discovery-support@ansys.com.

Ansys EmployeeHello Robert Wright
Thank you for sharing the details through email. I went through them and the error is mentioning about failure over Mechanical license. I checked your account and you have Discovery license and Discovery Fluids Physics Add-on license. So, if you are trying to perform any structural analysis in the Refine mode of Discovery , you will get this error. Structures Add-on license is required for performing structural analysis in the Refine mode.
Please let me know if this explains the reason behind the error message that you are seeing. Let me know if you have any questions.

SubscriberHi Naresh,
Thank you for the reply, I have found my issue (I am afraid to say that it is user error on my part), I copied the wrong application file to my desktop as a shortcut, so it was trying to load the mechanical side. it begs the question as to why Ansys does not create shortcuts like most other software, but that is another thread.
Thank you very much for your support.
