SubscriberThat is not the answer to my querry.
What you said is known to all. So replying like this is not a solution. And it's wastage of time.
Thanks for understanding.

Forum Moderatoryou may want to watch how you use language: the above is neither helpful or likely to improve your chances of anyone helping. We allow a fair bit of leeway given English is often a second or third language but lack of manners is not appreciated.

SubscriberI completely disagree what you said.
There wasn't any violation of any manner. What I said that is just real and absolutely necessary to remind.
I take the full responsibility that I said.

Ansys EmployeeHello,
I sincerely apologize for my short answer. But, it was answering your question as Windows 8.1 is not supported.
Windows 10 is the minimum required OS.
One item you can check is to open the Windows Event Viewer and look at the Application and System Logs to see if there are any errors at the time of
the program crashing.

SubscriberWell, that is not the resolution to the issue, I am discussing. My questions aren't answered yet.

SubscriberOr alternatively I am drawing attention to the respective decision maker, if they can include Windows 8.1 also for running ansys student. It will be a helpful decision for many users.

Ansys Employeeif I were a decision maker that will be a very bad decision if I start now supporting Windows 8.1:
Microsoft will begin Windows 8 and 8.1's end of life and support in January 2023. This means it will stop all support and updates to the operating system. Windows 8 and 8.1 already reached the end of Mainstream Support on January 9, 2018.

SubscriberStill There are many Windows 8.o/ 8.1 users. Many.
And Ansys Student remains valid for just only one year.
Hence, including 8.1 version will have a better result as more users will have the opportunity to use ansys. Undoubtedly.
Microsoft's decision for not supporting 8.0/8.1 shall not be an issue. to include it - because still there will be many users of 8.1. And all ready the other alternative OS are included.
Bottom line is that many users has been out of these ansys student program as 8.1 has not been included. It will be better to include 8.1 if ansys policy makers want to allow more users to include in their planning. There is no negativity in including that. Other than positive side.
Thank you for being generous to the users of 8.0/8.1.

Forum ModeratorAnsys Student is valid for one year because it's for educational purposes, it's enough to learn on and then you update to the latest version as you'll be using the campus system for research projects.
Regarding Win8 and 8.1, it was released in 2012 and Win10 came out in 2015. I don't think we ever used it internally, and can't remember ever supporting it. I know I upgraded my home PC from Win7 to Win10 as part of the free migration, and suspect most others did too. Win8 will be lacking many of the dll's etc that are required by the Ansys software, hence some of the other issues you're facing.

SubscriberPlease note that I am not making any issue of one year validity. That is your policy for all. So no complaint.
But my point is about the users of 8.0/8.1. I am asking if you can include them in your program like others ( 10, 11).
Users of 8.0/8.1 can upgrade - that is true. But that may come with complicacy. Say in my case, I will not be able to use many installed softwares in my computer if I upgrade it.
Hence the better resolution may be to include 8.0/8.1 with other OS. It will expand the uses of ansys. And It will do good. Not bad.
