We have an exciting announcement about badges coming in May 2025. Until then, we will temporarily stop issuing new badges for course completions and certifications. However, all completions will be recorded and fulfilled after May 2025.

      Hi Ahmed,

Please create a new thread under  Physics Simulation --> Structural Mechanics

Then explain a little bit more details of your simulation setup.

      Thank you,

      Win

my model is stuck on solving the mathematical model …… anybody has any suggestions … I could really use the help

I used 0.0001 second end time …. thanks guys

      Another post from ahmed osama:

thank for your quick response ….
I am new to ansys so I am sorry I don't understand what you mean by creating new thread under physics simulation
….. I have a vehicle chassis for shell eco marathon competition and I was simulating front impact ,
and I've been trying to run this simulation for the past 3 days but it always get stuck on solving
the mathematical model... I've used all the default setting in the mesh …. and suddenly yesterday it worked
( with the same setup that I've been trying for the past 3 days ) but because of the big no. of nodes ( 294344)
it took about 5 hours and I got tired of it and cancelled it  ...
today it got stuck again so I cant tell where the problem is .....
another thing my computer has 8 gb of ram and when the simulation was running it only used 20% of the cpu .....
if you have any question that would help you help me please let me know "

Ahmed, Can you post some snapshots of the model you are working with? Like Geometry, Boundary Conditions (click on explicit dynamics in mechanical) and Analysis settings for us to debug.

This is not as big a model from what I can tell especially for the time you are running it, try clearing any generated data and solve it. Let us know if you are observing an initial time step being reported in the solver output?

Note that you can save your snapshots and post them as shown:

      Ahmed,

How many cores does you computer have?  You say it was using only 20% of the CPU. The default for number of cores to use during a solution is 2 cores, so if you have 8 cores, then you would expect to see about 25% CPU utilization.

To get higher utilization, in Mechanical, Tools > Solve Process Settings > Advanced > Number of Cores and type 8 if you have 8 cores or 4 if you have 4 cores etc.

      Regards,

      Peter
