Structural Mechanics – Roll Forming Convergence Issues (Sheet Metal Forming)

      Hi all,

I am trying to simulate a sheet metal forming using several rollers. The setup is a nonlinear problem with sheet metal of 2.54cm thick structural steel with plastic hardening, while the rollers are rigid bodies.

Can anyone kindly show me the errors within my model?

I am also having the same problem. Were you able to solve it?

Check the solution information...what was not converging?  The force was, but what was not?  Knowing that will point you in a direction for troubleshooting.

Well, I've made several iterations since this model and have made some progress. However, my question is, would this static structural be capable of what I'm trying to achieve which is linear translation of a piece of metal which goes through several rollers creating a particular profile? There are other softwares like Ubeco Profil and Copra RF but they are out of my budget and mainly for enterprise purposes. But I'm just doing this for research so I'm using the ANSYS academic version. What I'm trying to examine is the residual stress that is formed in the bending region. I hope this could help.

Can you explain how you solved the problems you encountered or uploaded the complete file to them
