Hi,
Â
I'm in the process of creating a mapping from a set of modal coordinates to strain in a set of given directions (sort of a strain mode shape matrix), which I'm getting from a projection of the strain tensor I've constructed from the normal and shear elastic strain results for a small number of modes from a modal analysis in Mechanical.
My question is: From reading around I'm aware that the default in modal is to normalise deformation with respect to the mass matrix, and wanted to check if the strain values are calculated using these values (i.e. they're also mass normalised) or if they reflect the physical normal and shear strain values.
Â
Thanks,
David

By default, the mode shapes ( nodal results like displacements as well as element results like stresses/strains) are all mass normalized.Â

Perfect, thankyou!
