Storing additional solver gradients in data file?

I have a udf used in a uds transport equation thatrequites temperature and species mass fraction gradients. I have activated the storage of these gradients with the tui commands. When I write the solution data and open it later the additional gradients are no longer avaliable. Is there a way to include them in the rest of the solution data written to file?

The uds transport equation runs on its own with the background flow fixed (other equations not active) so I'd like to be able to just load the dta file and run the uds equation without having to run a timestep of the backkground flow to get the gradients again.

      Have a look here  https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/Secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v241/en/flu_ug/flu_ug_sec_files_data_file_options.html   Looks like it's a Legacy .dat.gz option.

If you type it 0 in the TUI that may also recalculate the gradients. It's a shortcut to tell Fluent to calculate zero iterations, but may also do what you need. Alternatively it 1 may be a more reliable option. That will not update the timestep - it adds iterations into the current time step.

Thanks for the link, that looks exactly like what I am after. I tried following the steps but 'Data File Quantities...' is greyed out preventing me from opening the dialogue box.

Have you initialised the model? Some of the field don't exist until that is done so certain features aren't available.

yes I have initialized the model. Even after I run for 1 timestep the 'Data File Quantities' is still greyed out

Odd, it's OK here. Did you switch to classic files from CFF (h5)? The below is Fluent 24R1 in standalone mode.

I figured it out. I had just save the file in the legacy format that did not work. I had to go to File>preference>general: and select Legacy as the default format. Once I did that, the data file quantities dialogue box was avaliable.

Alll of the extra quantities I need are there. Thanks you.

I switched in the TUI so my default remains h5 format. Otherwise same effect.
