Step selection mode for APDL command in Workbench

      Hello,

I am modelling an ANISO material in static structural and insert the command snippet in the Analysis section.

Do I need to set the "step selection mode" to "all" in order for the ANISO material properties to be active for all load steps?

Now the analysis is done and i found out all three APDL commands were with the "step selection mode" being "First". Does it mean the ANISO material was not taken into account for the 2nd step and the following steps?

Thank you for any explanation or discussion.

      Hi,

The ANISO material should be considered for all three steps.

        Hi Ashish,

I changed the " step selection mode" to "all" in the second model and the analysis was terminated at the beginning of the second load step. An error message said the TB command to define OELN was created in 1st step or sth, i did not take a screen shot of that. it seemd that i should not define the ANISO using TB again for all steps.

If the APDL command was set to "First", was the ANISO material only active in the first load step?

I actually have 13 load steps, could you please tell me how i should set the ANISO material properly with the APDL command snipppet?

Thank you very much for your reply!

      Hi,

The first step defines the material properties. Running this command in every step indicates you are redefining material again (see /prep7 in the command - you enter the preprocessing).

        Hi Ashish,

Appreciate your prompt reply. So I should keep the command as "First" , then the ANISO material will be active for all load steps, right?

Sorry I am a freshman on APDL, so just wanna confirm this.

        Thank you!

Yes, the defined properties in the first step will be available for all steps. Regards, Ashish Khemka
