SubscriberI have to simulate a mechanical thermal analysis. The temperature of the geometry increase from 25 to 75 and decrease to -40 degree. I have to calculate the expansion and shrinkage of the geometry(For exampe a beam.). I have never used any kind of thermal analysis in ansys. Can anyone please suggest me how to do, and should i have to use steady state or transient thermal analysis.

Ansys EmployeeThis is something you need to know before doing the analysis. So let's start with some basic questions; what is the nature of the thermal loading? What's the time scale?

SubscriberHello, I dont have any specific requriement. This is just a rough assignment for me to let my supervisor know, that i have some basic knowledge of thermal analysis in ansys. So, he asked to make a simulation where, the temperature of a beam is increased and decreased, so that i cant calculate the expansion and shrinkage of the material.

Subscriber, thanks for your reply. I am really a begginer in solving thermal problems in ansys. Please dont mind to reply my question, Could you be more specific on what i have to do in simple steps. I have understood to some extent what i have to do but not totally. I am waiting forward for your reply. Thanks in advance.
