We have an exciting announcement about badges coming in May 2025. Until then, we will temporarily stop issuing new badges for course completions and certifications. However, all completions will be recorded and fulfilled after May 2025.

Static Structural with Hydrodynamic Pressure – Beam Loads Represented as RAOs

      Hi,

I have transferred data from a hydrodynamic diffraction system to an upstream static structural system using the hydrodynamic pressure add-on. I am using the static structural system to determine loads within a floating structure (axial loads and bending moments through beams). I would like to represent these loads as RAOs, to show the loading through each beam at each wave frequency and each wave direction. I am wondering whether it is possible to generate these RAOs within Ansys, or will I have to export the data and create these plots myself?

You could directly have the bending/shear force RAOs from Aqwa-Line (Hydrodynamic Diffraction analysis) by defining the mass distribution along an axis.

        I see, okay thank you.

Is there a native way within Ansys to generate beam axial load RAOs?

Yes, it is in Hydrodynamic Diffraction analysis. Once the point masses along X or Y axis are defined, or the mass distribution along X or Y axis is import into Aqwa editor in Workbench, the bending/shear force calculation can be selected and the results could be output
