SubscriberI still have problem in modelling the Spiral stirrup column.
What should i do if i also want to use the line body option to decrease the computation time?
I can't model the spiral stirrup in line body option. Any suggestions?
I need to build it in design modeler.Â
Ive already seen the tutorial on Youtube, but still confused how to make the spiral column convert into the line body?

SubscriberHello William,
Use an Excel spreadsheet to calculate the 3D points on the helix and add two columns for curve number and point number to import a 3D curve into DesignModeler that will be a line body.
In SpaceClaim, I have created beams from long straight solids by going into the Prepare table and clicking the Extract button and picking a solid. Is that what you tried? It will work on the thick rods, I don't know if it will work on the spiral.

Please see below, may be this method will help you get what you intend to do.
First, create an Helix-Solid body in SpaceClaim with the options you want (looks like you have this).
Then use the Extract beams tool to generate the beams:
Lastly, bring this into Mechanical and work with it as needed:

Ansys Employeewhat are the details you have under contact? It looks like you have a beam to beam contact?
Beam contact has had significant improvements in 18 and 19? It could just be that, are you able to upgrade?

I want to make these line body parts work together as concrete and reinforcement. but seems it is not work and bonded together.
What sginificant improvements in 18 and 19?
