Speed of Timestep Animation-Ansys Fluent Post CFD

      Hi everyone,

I have simulated transient flow through a microchannel for flow blowing for 5sec with 10,000 timesteps of size 0.0005

When I create timestep animation ,it is running very slow ,taking around half an hour to complete.

How I can increase the speed of timestep animation.

      I am using Ansys 2022R2

      Please help.

      Hi Samia,

Are you interested in shortening the video length or the actual time to create the animation video?

      1. If you are interested in shortening the video length, then I would suggest increasing the frame rate. In the animation settings , you can go to Options, then Advanced Options, and then choose 60 FPS (default is 24). For 10000 timesteps, it would take around 6.9 minutes video length at 24 FPS and 2.7 minutes at 60 FPS. Other workaround is reducing the number of timesteps used for animation. You have 10000 timesteps. If I animate this at 24 FPS, it would take 6.9 minutes of video. If you dont want such a long video, then in the animation settings go to advanced frame selection controls and specify the settings as 'Specified Timestep Interval'. Specify a timestep interval of 5. So now the total video length will be reduced to 1.3 minutes for a 24 FPS video. (10000/5 = 2000, 2000/24 = 83 sec = 1min 23sec)

      2. If you want to shorten the time spent for animation, then the above advice of choosing timestep intervals might be a good idea, as the postprocessor now has fewer timesteps to render (10000/5 = 2000 timesteps, five times faster). Another way around this is to reduce the video qualtity. In the options, set the image size to a lower resolution (maybe 640x480). This would reduce the time significantly with sacrifice of resolution.
