SubscriberHi all,
I'm using SpaceClaim to perform pre-processing on an assembly created from SolidWorks.Â
It's a helical pipe. After I perform Split Body using surface as cutter, weird new bodies has been created and a distorted surface has occurred unexpectedly. The pictures is as followed.Â
Â
It's really puzzling. It's my first time to encounter the problem in SpaceClaim. Anyone has some suggestions? It's highly appreciated!!
Regards

SubscriberHi,
I'm using 22R2. The problem is caused by the problematic geometry topology. I repaired and cleaned the geometry, then the operation and visualization problem is solved.Â

SubscriberThis type of geometry prep operation should just be done inside a parametric CAD program.  So easily controlled and you have the option to do directly modelling (like SC) or parametrically using 3D sketches.Â
I just have a pain point about people having to use something because it's the only thing that's offered, like spaceclaim or discovery has been inside the Ansys Enco-system.  Take a moment to consider how much better our situation would be if we can use both solidworks and spaceclaim to do geometry prep as opposed to only spaceclaim. Â
forcing this kind of operation inside a tool that's optimally designed for it is just a waste of time.Â
