Some details on simulating Litz Wire in Maxwell 2D for Wireless Power Transfer

      Hello everyone,

I'm using 2021 R1 and I'm trying to simulate transformer coil and receiver coil with Litz wire winding using the 2D EdyyCurrent solver. These two images show the 2D model(about Z) and Litz wire material parameters.

Hi @liangbo Keep the number of parallel branches to 1. This setting is for any parallel paths in winding not for strands in a conductor.
Keep the number of conductors to 1 as you have already defined the strands in litz wire settings.
I hope the No. of strands (800) you defined in the Litz wire setting is for one conductor and not for the whole winding.

      Regards Navya

Hello Navya Thank you for the reply, I get it. The No. of strands (800) I defined in the Litz wire setting is for one conductor.
When i keep the No. of strands i defined in the Litz wire setting to 800, keep the number of parallel branches to 1, keep the number of conductors to 1, the resistance of two windings show as follows:
When i keep the composition type to solid in copper material properities, keep the number of parallel branches to 1, keep the number of conductors to 800, the results were quite dramatic.

That is to say, I have to set Litz wire in the material, Otherwise I'm not going to get the right result?
I also ran into another problem, when i use litz wire model and the parameters are set correctly, the inductance of two windings are constant, but in practice it varies with frequency, can you help me explain it?

      Thanks Bo
