SubscriberHi,
i am trying to engineer the dispersion in a micro ringresonator such that kerr soliton comb generation is possible. I know that I can calculate the anomalous GVD regime using this reference: Sweep analysis for dispersion calculations – Ansys Optics . Can I also calculate the integrated dispersion parameter as shown for example in this screenshot in figure 4C from Dissipative Kerr solitons in optical microresonators | Science?
Thanks!

Ansys EmployeeThe fundamental results from the eigensolver is the mode profile and the effective index. other quantities are derived from them by the first principles. If you have the mathematical definition of integrated dispersion relative to the effective index, it should be possible to get it. Please try.

SubscriberThank you for your response. It seems that I can Taylor-expand w_ µ, for which I need some higher-order (n>2) derivatives of the Dispersion D. I assume these have to be calculated manually, as the FDE Results provide only first- and second-order dispersion?

Ansys EmployeeYes, you are right that only 1st and 2nd order results are provided. I would suggest that you can fit the 2nd order result (or first order), and then manually get the higher order result. It can be relatively easier than discrete diffence, since you will have an analytical expression.
