solid to shell transfer in ansys mechanical

Hi, would you please advise how to transfer from shell to solid in ansys mechanical/space claim?

I don't want to use midsurface function because it creates mid surfaces, whereas I need to have shell based on the top of the solid. I have tried to look at it in the Solid Works as well, but as I have a step file, it is difficult to modify it for some reason. Usually I use thicken function to make from shell solid and hoped to do the same for opposite. Shell function in Ansys doesn't work.

      Thank you!

In SpaceClaim, you can select all the faces on the top face of the material thickness with a few mouse clicks, since they are all connected with tangent faces.

Ctrl-C to copy those faces and Ctrl-V to paste them in as a surface.

Now delete the solid.  You can use that surface directly in mechanical and define the element offset to the top or bottom to compute the bending correctly.
