We have an exciting announcement about badges coming in May 2025. Until then, we will temporarily stop issuing new badges for course completions and certifications. However, all completions will be recorded and fulfilled after May 2025.

      Hi,

      I am new to Ansys.

I am trying to analyze a simple steel beam. But

Encountered an error please see below.

      I'm on Static Structural Mode.

Could someone please assist on how to solve such problem.

      Thank you and kind regards,

The error says the model is missing a support in the Y direction. Please insert images into your reply that show the supports and loads applied to the model for further help.

      Hi Peter,

Please see below my model with supports and loading.

My load is a pressure on top of I beams I have vertices as supports.

      Hi,

I tried it on the solid model. It worked. But is there a way to do it on surfaces only?

Attach a Modal analysis to the Static Structural model of the surface. Apply the same constraints to the Modal analysis. Solve the Modal and see if you have almost zero natrual frequencies. Watch the animations of those to determine which surface is not connected.

Open the Surface geometry in SpaceClaim and on the Workbench tab, click the Share button. This will cause all coincident geometry to share nodes. Then rerun the Modal and you should get a non-zero first mode frequency.

      Now i'm having this problem.

      Yesterday it was all good.

In modal if i have 0 frequencies that means nodes are not connected right?

Does the discovery has the same button as well share button? after clicking that button i'll just exit the space/discovery then that's it all nodes are connected?

      Hi Peter,

Clicking the share button really helps it worked now!

      Thank you so much.

Is there any tutorial on ansys on how to do sea motion analysis and get the acceleration for the ship/barge...?

Hi Reymart, glad it’s working now.

ANSYS has a module called AQWA that makes it easier to simulate structures such as a ship or barge being acted on my wave motion. I have never used it. I expect it comes with some tutorials.
