Hi community. I have encountered the "software jammed" problem so many times, and I don't know why... My classmates are also running finite element analysis but they are working with other softwares, such as COMSOL and Abaqus. But their analysis are mostly running well without jamming. Is it because the hardware requirements for these softwares are different from those of Maxwell? My version is Ansys Electromagnetics Suite 2020R2,  with i9-9980XE CPU 3.00GHz, and the RAM space is 64.0G. Could someone please help me with this problem? Many thanks~

Could you describe what kind of jamming you are seeing? Runnig slow or slow to respond when not running?

The jamming is mostly saying that TDM solver aborted due to insufficient memory. It is even happening frequently on a new computer, with 256G of RAM and CPU "Threadripper 7965X" (24 cores). What could possibly be the reason? Maybe it's because I've used too many cores? I set 8 tasks with 16 cores in the HPC setting window.

Hi,

The numbers you provided look good. Is TDM the only distribution type which is turned on? Do you see a heavy usage in your computer task manager while solving? Sometimes other issues like some feature is not support TDM will also cause this TDM solver aborted due to insufficient memory error. If you have tried solving with HPC disabled, you could check the memory usage in the solution profile for sigle task, and then estimate the total memory usage for HPC.
