Simulation Time – ANSYS Fluent and Transient Structural

      Hello,
My research group is trying to model a two-way Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI) using the Fluent and Transient Structural modules available in the ANSYS Suite. Our simulation times, at the moment, are around a day for a total simulation time of 2 seconds. We'd like to reduce the total computational time from a day to something more manageable and to that end, would like to upgrade our desktop/components of the desktop. This is our current configuration:
      • INTEL i9-13900 CPU
      • 32 GB DDR5 RAM
      • NVIDIA T1000 8 GB GPU
      • 1 TB SSD
What would you recommend that we upgrade to see the best return on investment? Additionally, is there a way to make ANSYS use the GPU to solve the simulation that would result in a lower computational time as compared to using the CPU and if so, what GPU would you recommend?

      Thank you

I don't think the Fluent native-gpu solver is compatible with system coupling at present, so gpu may not give you much of a boost here.  The more critical element is how many cores are you running on, and what cpu load are you seeing? Transient calculations do take time, so you may find you're better off running several sets of runs at once rather than trying to speed up each simulation.
