Hello,Â
I am a new user in corrosion modeling in ANSYS Fluent. I am looking for an example of the Ansys setup profile regarding this topic. I found a video from ANSYS Fluent which is my only reference. In the video, it presents a case of galvanized corrosion between zinc and copper in a humid environment. However, it only shows limited details on how to do it. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help me with this. I am also willing to share more details about my simulation problem if you prefer.
Thanks,
FangÂ

Hello Fang,
I recommend you to use the newest feature in 2023 r2 fluent version called the water corrosion pre tool option. I have attached the user guide link where they have clearly mentioned on how to set up the case and run the simulation.Â
18.1. Modeling Species Transport and Finite-Rate Chemistry (ansys.com)- ReferÂ
18.1.4.7.2. Procedure for Setting Corrosion Simulations using the Water Corrosion Pre Tool
I hope this helps you.
Thanks,

Hello Chaitanya,Â
Many thanks for your great support!Â
I am using the Ansys fluent 2021 R1 version. Is any manual available for this version?Â
Thanks,Â
Fang

Hi Chaitanya,Â
Thanks for your kind support on my simulation!Â
I have a few more questions that I was hoping you could help clarify:
Is there any difference in electrochemical corrosion modeling between the version I am currently using (2021 R1 Fluent) and the water corrosion pre-tool in the 2023 R2 Fluent version, which you highly recommended?
I am attempting to generate plots of the corrosion rate directly from Ansys, as demonstrated in the latest Ansys Fluent video. However, it appears that this rate is not an in-built parameter in Ansys Fluent. Could you please guide me on how to achieve this?
I noticed in the case study (2045415_corrosion-2D-potential.cas.gz) downloaded from the Ansys website that the molecular weight for Zn^2+ and Zn is set to 30 instead of the true value of Zinc, which is 65. Additionally, the density for both is set to 1000, while the actual density of Zinc is 7140. Could you kindly help me understand the reasons behind these differences?
Please access to the case files using the link: Electrochemical modelling
Thank you sincerely,Â
FangÂ

Hello,Â
I've recently begun using the water corrosion prediction tool for simulating strong acid conditions. I'm curious about its applicability for a pH of 9.
After running simulations for a 1-hour duration, I've noticed both positive and negative results in the total surface corrosion rate. Could someone kindly explain the meaning of the positive and negative values? I would greatly appreciate any insights. Thank you
Fang
