Hi, I am trying to simulate a model of a PM synchronous motor considering the mechanical transient. It should start from rpm=0 and reach the sync. rpm=1000, but no matter how I set up the simulation, it only seem to oscillate from approx. -200 to 200 rpm. I have also tried with a ramp function to gradually increase the applied voltage, and also several combinations of the connection of the phases. Are there someone that has experience with the starting of a PMSM in Ansys Maxwell or have any idea of what I can do to make it work? I do not get it to work if I say that initial speed is 1000rpm either, it just imediately drops to approx. 200 rpm and oscillates...Â

Hello Andreas,
To simulate the starting process, we need to make synchrous frequency in excitation for speed.Â
Please open a bldc example in RMxprt and build Maxwell model, then enable "consider mechanical transient" in Motion. After that, you can perform this simulation.
Please review circuit to find how to make synchrous frequency for different speed in excitation.
