SubscriberHello everyone,
I try to simulate a film of thermoplastics with a thickness of 25 micrometers.
Could you advise me which mesh type is best.

SubscriberYou need to provide a much more detailed description of the situation. Use images, sketches, say what other components are involved. Is it in contact with another part or is it stretched over an area? Which way is gravity going? What answers do you want the analysis to provide?

SubscriberGood morning and thank you for your answer.
I am working on a project that concerns crack propagation. I should simulate the Double cantliver Beam (DCB) trial.
In doing so, I should define an epoxy film between two bars. And then calculate the energy release rate using Ansys. This experiment should be used as a reference for the results.
Afterwards I should lay down a Film of thermoplastic material in the middle plane between both beams (here I also use epoxy). The thickness of the film 25 microns. and then that same should be calculated. The questions are now:
1- Can I Define an Adhesive for the First Trial (Without Film) and Calculate the Energy Release Rate with VCCT? or is it just normal contact between the bars. I mean that i can not simulate an adhesion zone with VCCT and should use CZM.
2- In the second case (with film) which type of mesh is best to simulate the thermoplastic film.
