SubscriberI was working on a project and got confused about how to specify the inlet fluid as superheated steam. Should I use the h20 vapor material and overwrite the values or should i use the wet steam model.
Any help would be appreciated in this matter.

Forum ModeratorYes? If the steam doesn't change temperature or pressure enough to alter the properties just alter a material to suit. Otherwise you'll need a more advanced option.Â

SubscriberFor sure there would be a significant pressure drop involved in the nozzle plus there is also a possibility of density drop at the exit of the nozzle. I would like to know what advanced option can i consider in this case.
Thanks.

Forum ModeratorDoes that get you anywhere near wet steam?Â

SubscriberWell actually the length of my nozzle is about 80mm and the Inlet Steam is supersaturated at 1073K. I also want to know through this analysis if there would be any condensation involved which i certainly dont know yet. My query is only about the wet steam model if i can use it for my current design parameters of nozzle.Â

Forum ModeratorYou can use most models anywhere, whether they're correct or necessary is a different question. Supersaturated or superheated? You've used both terms now.Â

Subscribersorry my bad, its superheated. Well thanks for your suggestion ill look into wet steam model for nowÂ

Forum ModeratorOK, so superheat going to wet, or superheat staying very hot? The main goal of any CFD model set up is to use a little physics as possible. That's why we always make sure we have a good idea of the likely result before turning the solver on and why part of the convergence check is that the assumptions we made about the flow field are still valid.Â
